About the Ventura County RCD

The VCRCD

The Ventura County Resource Conservation District [VCRCD] is a special district of the state and is primarily funded by grants. We provide assistance to help both rural and urban communities to conserve, protect, and restore natural resources.

The Ventura County RCD is a local unit of government and is administered under the provisions of Division 9, of the Public Resource Code, State of California. The VCRCD is one of 128 RCDs in CA and belongs to the California Association of RCDs (CARCD) and the National Association of RCDs (NACD). The NACD represents over 3,000 RCDs in the Country. Formation of the VCRCD was accomplished in steps involving a merger and consolidation of the Ojai and South Ventura County RCDs and annexation of all remaining unincorporated land in Ventura County. The three Divisions of the RCD coincide with these three geographical areas (Ojai, Santa Clara Valley, and South Ventura County).

The VCRCD is governed by a Board of nine directors nominated by division and elected for four-year terms. Directors must be landowners or agents of landowners residing within the District. Regular District Meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month at 9:00 AM.

  • Approximately 13.5% of our irrigated acres (22 square miles) are affected by seawater intrusion.
